Welcome to Albannach , a Celtic bar located in the center of Niigata City. Albannach was previously known as Cafe Velo and now continues under the same ownership as the center of all things Celtic in Niigata City or maybe even Niigata prefecture !. First up you are most likely wondering why its called Albannach . In Gaelic Albannach means Scottish, Scots and that is were my family came from before immigrating to New Zealand. My family clan links are Clan MaFarlane , Clan Gunn & Clan Lamont and I have always been proud of our family history. My partner Tamaki makes all the food here at Albannach and it is the only place in Niigata ken were you can buy traditional savoury pies and other traditional Celtic dishes , which are baked fresh everyday. Albannach also sells a variety of hand made craft items from local artists and made to order Celtic knitwear from Aran jerseys to Scottish bonnets etc. We are Niigata kens official Black Isle bar which means you can always find Organic beers & Ales on tap from the Black Isle brewery in Scotland and of course single malt Scottish whiskeys as well .
