For those of you who are regulars to Albannach you will know that one of the most popular things on our menu is our hand made pies. These pies are baked fresh everyday for the best quality ingredients we can buy and we have a wide range of different fillings such as Steak mince, Steak mince & cheese , Butter chicken, Duck & Leek, Mushroom & cheese . And sometimes new pies like the one I had for lunch this Wednesday which was Lamb & Porter ( Black Isle organic porter of course ) . Today Tamaki changed kegs , now we have two fantastic Black Isle organic beers on tap from Scotland.

Making a wool felt scottish bonnet

Yesterday with some free time I attended a felt making class at a local Craft Cafe called " Chillin Mama " where I made my 1st ever wool felt Scottish bonnet, it was a lot of fun to make and now I have a nice warm bonnet for the coming winter .

New jacobite style waistcoat

Not long ago I found a fantastic online store in the USA selling period clothes from the 17th & 18th century and also goods from those periods as well. Slowing I am putting together a classic Jacobite 1745 outfit which I wear while working here at Albannach. Today my new navy wool 1770s waist coat arrived from Jas Townsend & son ,Inc. which fits perfectly as you can see from the photo below. Just arrived today from our Black Isle importer , Scotch Ale 6.2 % , fantastic dark red brown and easy to drink. This beer would be perfect with one of our home made meat pies !

wall lantern

Fitted up a new outdoor lantern yesterday at Albannach , purchased in new Zealand for $ 25.00 and the same lantern sells for NZ $ 142.00 here at the local home center. Most likely both lanterns are made at the same somewhere in China !

highland habbits

A new friend from the USA who is a bagpiper started a band earlier this year called " highland Habbits " and here is their 1st music video with features many of his Jacobite reenacting friends in full 1745 period costume .

Outlander

The above photo is taken from the very popular American TV show Outlander, based on the books of the same title . Outlander Follows the story of Claire Randall, a married combat nurse from 1945 who is mysteriously swept back in time to 1743, where she is immediately thrown into an unknown world where her life is threatened. When she is forced to marry Jamie Fraser, a chivalrous and romantic young Scottish warrior, a passionate relationship is ignited that tears Claire's heart between two vastly different men in two irreconcilable lives.

New sign board

Yesterday in the rain I hung up our new hanging sign board . The center design is a traditional Celtic pattern showing 3 wolfs chasing each other whilst biting each others tails. There are many such designs in Celtic culture featuring interwoven patterns or animals. But I chose the wolf as that is Tamaki's Celtic star sign.
