New menu board - As it often rains and at this time of year it & snows you can not put a blackboard menu on the street , so how do you advertise what you sell ? . I have just finished building a water proof menu board. It is painted in light brown outdoor wood stain and then coated with varnish with a small roof to defect the water . a black sign board will slide in from either end and is protected by 3mm acrylic sheet .Should be perfect once the blackboard is fitted as then everybody can see whats for sale !.

Just the thing for a cold Niigata winter day - Albannach Guinness lamb stew plus our famous home made rye bread !
A few weeks ago Ema who hails from Cessnock in Scotland & her co worker visited Albannach , they had lunch and of course some fantastic Black Isle Isle beer from Inverness. Thanks for dropping by and hope to see you both again sometime !
On tap this week, Black Isle porter 4.2 % - Porter is my favorite style of beer and a great beer for winter , this is what the crew at Black Isle have to say about it -
Masses of dark roasted malt produces this dry full-bodied ruby black beer. This beer glides across the palate like a mythical monster on a frozen loch - a wonderful balance of bitterness with a light chocolate finish. Hi Everybody , just a wee reminder that this Friday the 5th is our next Celtic session. It starts from 7pm and usually goes to 12am with the busiest time of the evening being around 10pm , but come early if you want a seat as it fills up fast.
It is a great chance to hear the best live Celtic music in Niigata ken and if you are interested in learning to play a Celtic instrument there are a wide variety of instruments being played such as - Fiddle, Flute, Tin whistle, Uilleann pipes, Button accordion, Piano accordion,Concertina, Banjo, Mandolin, Bouzoukis, Guitar, Harp, Hammered dulcimer, Bodhran, Jaw harp , Spoons etc. So if you are free come along and join our monthly Celtic session ! Maybe you are thinking of holding a party ? , a birthday day party , a farewell or welcome party for a work mate etc. If so come and see us as we can cater for private parties here at Albannach. We have enough seating for up to 18 guests and you can pre order your favorite dishes from us or just order from our regular extensive menu of traditional Celtic home cooking . There is something to suit everybody's taste and we always have fantastic organic craft beer on tap, plus a wide range of other drinks as well. Pictured below are a few photos taken at Albannach of a group of friends who were celebrating the New Year Just arrived today and now on tap , Black Isle Yellowhammer 4.0 % ABV from Inverness in Scotland. This is what the team at Black Isle have to say about it -
A refreshing straw-coloured beer with a flinty, grapefruit aroma. A great session beer to slake the thirst. Not a brightly coloured carpenters tool in sight, but packed full of hops for a big hit. Winner of Best Beer and Cider Category of Soil Association 2008 & 2010 Organic Food Awards. SIBA "Champion Beer Of Scotland 2009". Commended in Beer and Cider Category of Soil Association 2009 Organic Food Awards. A few weeks back the local TV station TENY came and filmed at Albannach for about 3 and half hours, the producer of the show used to live in this area when growing up and is helping promote businesses by making a TV show highlighting some of the unique shops off the main street. Later on we will have a video of the show to upload, but in the meantime posted below are a few photos taken from last Sundays broadcast . The show featured several businesses and our spot was the second shop featured. They filmed Tamaki making traditional pies, customers enjoying lunch and Black Isle craft beer and thanks to our friends from the Celtic session we also played some live music as well , featuring the guitar, fiddle and the jaw harp . We have had a few new customers since the showed aired and a big thanks to the staff at TENY TV studio for taking the time to care about local businesses - something the local city office has not done in a long time !
Last night we held our annual Burns night, it was a small gathering but everybody enjoyed a traditional Burns supper , Tamaki made a Haggis and Asano san played his pipes and Bob MacPherson from Glasgow who is also a piper joined us for dinner as well. Thank everybody who came along - it was great fun. |
